World Mobile's Strategy and Expansion

What is the focus of the initial rollout of the AirNode Sales Platform?

The initial installation of the AirNode Sales Platform will be focused primarily on our spectrum zones. Beginning with Reno, these markets are designated territories in which World Mobile has licensed spectrum.

This area’s high population density is favourable since it provides a large user base comprised of both inhabitants and a high turnover of tourists and travelers.

Why did World Mobile choose to start in Reno, and how did you make this decision?

World Mobile gathered data via a variety of means, including delivery vehicles navigating Reno while using Scan for Points. This information was crucial for coverage mapping and determining where to begin in Reno.

Reno was an optimal option after we spotted substantial coverage gaps in the region and assessed the population density. We will establish this zone of meaningful coverage in that area first.

What are the types of AirNodes offered by World Mobile?

  • Link – The Link AirNode is an essential part of World Mobile’s next-gen fixed wireless network, delivering endpoint connectivity at customer premises. Deployed within the Apex AirNode’s line of sight, it offers up to 1.6 Gbps throughput, ensuring reliable and high-speed internet access.

  • Apex 90 - The Apex 90 AirNode is the broadcast powerhouse of World Mobile’s next-gen fixed wireless network. It provides high-bandwidth wireless coverage up to 30 km line of sight, supporting connectivity for up to 250 Link AirNodes, ensuring robust connectivity and backhaul support to nearby cellular sites.

  • Apex 180 - The Apex 180 consists of two integrated Apex 90 AirNodes, delivering 180-degree wireless coverage within World Mobile’s nex-gen fixed wireless network. Supporting connectivity for up to 500 Link AirNodes, this configuration is ideal for wide-area network coverage and backhaul.

  • Portal 180 - The Portal 180 is an integrated wireless CBRS AirNode supporting all LTE TDD configurations and 180° Azimuth coverage. Whether you want to bring connectivity to remote communities or busy urban areas, the Portal 180 provides incredible capacity and the capability to connect anyone, anywhere.

  • Titan – The Titan AirNode is an advanced FDD dual-band macro radio base station, which offers extended-range Band 71 coverage. The Titan AirNode plays a key role in World Mobile’s network solution, providing ‘overwatch’, working in conjunction with Portal AirNodes to manage capacity and coverage for large volumes of users.

What does World Mobile mean by "meaningful coverage"?

With World Mobile licensed spectrum’s integration with CBRS spectrum, we’re building a hybrid network that ensures not just coverage, but “meaningful coverage”. For World Mobile this signifies continuous and uninterrupted network coverage that allows users to stay connected for extended periods. The goal is to provide comprehensive coverage, particularly in areas where World Mobile holds spectrum, effectively filling in any gaps (Swiss cheese problem) and ensuring seamless connectivity.

What is World Mobile’s strategy for creating coverage in these areas?

World Mobile’s strategy involves creating zones of meaningful coverage within the markets of our spectrum zones. Initially, the focus will be on high population density areas to benefit customers and increase the number of end-users, bringing value to AirNode Hosts, Operators, Host-Operators, and the sharing economy in general.

What are these "Swiss cheese problems" in the area?

Wireless coverage is provided by a grid of cell towers in cellular networks. Mobile devices link to nearby cell towers. Moving may weaken your tower connection, therefore your device needs to relocate to a closer or stronger tower. To maintain connectivity, your device and cellular network must easily transition. Call this a handover or handoff. If your current tower's signal degrades or you're reaching its coverage area, the network will tell your device to switch to a neighbouring tower with a stronger signal.

A "Swiss cheese problem" is a pocket of poor connectivity when handover is not smooth. These locations must be prioritised to improve connectivity and enable the sharing economy in rural and urban communities.

Where is the next rollout planned for World Mobile's network expansion?

The next rollout will primarily take place in the Reno area, including locations within World Mobile spectrum coverage such as Carson City and North Lake Tahoe with more to be announced. The goal is to expand and enhance coverage in these areas.

World Mobile uses Scan for Points to get insights into connectivity challenges around the world, allowing us to better understand and manage the "Swiss cheese" problem in network coverage.

We actively encourage communities in need of enhanced connectivity to get in touch with us. Your input plays a significant role in shaping our plans for the next expansion. We highly value community engagement in our decision-making process.

Is there an intention to deploy World Mobile's network globally?

The World Mobile vision is to deploy the World Mobile network globally and connect the billions unconnected. We've always envisioned ourselves as a global network. Ultimately, we aim to have a presence in various parts of the world and remote ownership to become available for AirNodes.
