There are four main roles in the World Mobile network: AirNode Operator, AirNode Host, AirNode Host-Operator, and EarthNode Operator. Each role has different responsibilities and contributes to the World Mobile network in unique ways.

EarthNode / Blockchain roles

EarthNode Operator: EarthNodes form the core of the World Mobile Chain, processing its core logic. EarthNode Operators are responsible for managing the software modules that form the EarthNode. These modules work together to authenticate users, maintain a distributed ledger, and support telecommunications services.

Unlike AirNodes, EarthNodes have no geographical restrictions, allowing operators to support the World Mobile network from anywhere in the world.

AirNode roles

  • AirNode Operator: This role involves operating an AirNode. Responsibilities include technical setup, maintenance, and management of the AirNode. Operators earn rewards based on the usage and services provided by their AirNode.

  • AirNode Host: The Host provides a location for the AirNode but does not manage its operation. This role is ideal for those who want to participate with minimal technical involvement. Hosts receive a portion of the rewards generated by the AirNode in return for providing a powered location.

  • AirNode Host-Operator: This role combines hosting and operating an AirNode. Host-Operators provide the location and manage the AirNode's operation, ensuring its performance and uptime.
